What an AI employee is
An AI employee is a hired worker that lives on its own server, keeps a lasting memory of your business, and does the work end to end. It is not a chatbot, not a subscription to a model, and not an assistant that waits for a prompt.
How is it different from a chatbot?
A chatbot answers. An employee does. Ask a chatbot to chase an unpaid invoice and it will write you a nice reminder text. Ask an employee and it will look up who has not paid, write to them, keep the thread, and tell you on Friday who replied. The difference is not the model — it is having its own machine, its own memory, its own accounts, and permission to act.
How is it different from a ChatGPT or Claude subscription?
A model subscription is a tool you operate. Every session starts from nothing, and everything it knows about your business you must paste in again. An AI employee remembers your projects, your customers, your decisions and your preferences, and it is still there tomorrow — working while you sleep.
What can it actually do?
Anything a person does at a computer: read and write mail, run conversations in your messengers, work with documents and spreadsheets, search and gather information, build and publish pages, use APIs, run code on its own server. It has no body, so it cannot do anything physical, and it does not have accounts you have not given it.
What can it not do?
It cannot be present in the physical world. It cannot access a system you have not connected. It is not a legal person: it does not sign contracts and it does not carry responsibility for decisions — you do. And it is not infallible: it can misread a task, so anything irreversible is worth confirming.
Does it work alone?
Up to five agents come with any plan, each with its own role and its own memory, and they can talk to each other in a shared chat. That is how a small team of employees is assembled — a sales one, an operations one, a support one — for the price of one extra agent each.
What does that look like in a business?
Four jobs an agent takes over from day one, and where the boundary with a person runs: what an AI employee actually does for a business.
