Run your agent on DeepSeek with your own key
2026-10-12

Your agent now has a choice of model: besides Claude, you can connect DeepSeek with your own key. The agent stays the same, with all its memory, skills and access. Only the model that does its thinking changes. The work is paid from your DeepSeek balance, and your subscriptions are not used.
To be upfront: today's DeepSeek is noticeably weaker than Claude Opus 5.5. By our estimate it is about two to three months of development behind, and an agent on it thinks more simply. We connected it ahead of time, for the future: models catch up fast, and when DeepSeek gets there, the switch will already be in place. Keep Claude for important work. DeepSeek is fine for trying out and for simple tasks.
How to connect:
- In the dashboard, open "Experimental features" on the agent card and press "Connect DeepSeek with your own API key".
- The key is created in your DeepSeek account, where you also top up the balance. Paste the key: the dashboard checks it and shows the balance.
- To run the agent on DeepSeek, press "Make active" in its row. You can switch back to Claude the same way at any time.
- When the balance runs low, the agent warns you itself. At zero it stops and asks you to top up or switch back to Claude.
Try it and tell us how your agent does on DeepSeek. Your feedback will decide which models we add next.
